A love story ten years in the making

Proposal in Korea
May and Guo Wen first met while working at Carrefour, but it wasn’t until ten years later when they met again that both were ready for a serious relationship. After a few months together, the couple knew they were ready to take their relationship further. And so during their vacation in Korea in last year, Guo Wen found an intimate moment and finally asked May to spend the rest of her life with him.
“It was just the two of us,” May remembers, “It wasn’t fanciful, but it was sweet.”
Photoshoot in Taiwan
The couple chose Taiwan for their pre-wedding photoshoot as it was the first country they visited together ten years ago. May says that as it was the place where she and Guo Wen first got to know each other closely, it was a great choice to create more beautiful memories that they will treasure in their marriage. The shoot was held in the scenic beach of Kenting National Park near Kaohsiung City.
About the shoot, May says that it was a tiring but totally fun experience. To get great, natural lighting, the couple started their shoot at seven in the morning and did not end until eight in the evening. Ultimately, the couple says that the sceneries in Taiwan and the pictures they took were both amazing.
ROM by the Sea
May and Guo Wen held a simple ROM ceremony among close friends and relatives. For their venue, the couple chose the Nova Room in One Degree 15 Marina Club as they wanted to have a high tea ceremony near the sea. The couple planned for the occasion for six months and were very happy with the results. “It was cosy and bright just to our liking,” May recalls, “and our JP, Mr. Phua Tan Tee, made the event livelier and more enjoyable.”
The couple looked cute and lovely in their wedding attire: the bride wearing a sweet princess gown by My Dream Wedding with pink ribbon accents on her hair and waist; and the groom wearing a button-shirt, purple tie, a black pullover sweater, and his signature black-rimmed glasses. May carried a bouquet of roses in pink, white and violet, while Guo Wen brought held on to a prop made of various colored balloons.
A memorable thing about May and Gue Wen’s ceremony was that they almost did not get the wedding pictures they wanted. The couple wanted to have pictures on a yacht but realized too late that it was exclusive for club members. Luckily, they met a good samaritan, a guest of the club, who allowed them to hold their photoshoot on his yacht.
The couple received compliments from their guests for their choice of venue, food and wedding décor. One Degree 15 provided a large spread of cocktail food that included salads, sweets and baked goods. Their guests also shared their appreciation for Mr. Phua, who delivered the ceremony in a solemn but delightful manner, and the beautiful décor and arrangements.
