Annabelle, Research Assistant
Boon Wee, Engineer
Wedding Date: 12 February 2011
How would it feel like to be searching for the love of your life, only to realize that you’ve already met him and just didn’t know it? That’s what Annabelle found out when she started dating Boon Wee. “We first met in Tampines Junior College almost eleven years ago,” Annabelle remembers, “We were in the same orientation group but we never knew of each other.”
But by chance the two were later enrolled in the same class and that was when they started to really know each other. They started dating and quickly found their feelings deepening for each other. Annabelle describes their love story: “It may not have been love at first sight, but it was a love meant to last forever.”
Simple Gestures and Sincere Words
After their graduation, Annabelle became a research assistant while Boon Wee pursued a career in engineering. As their careers developed and took more of their time, the couple felt that it was time to strengthen their commitment to each other.
Annabelle recalls that there was nothing flamboyant about Boon Wee’s proposal. He proposed at Iluma, one of the couple’s favorite hang-out places. Boon Wee took Annabelle to the rooftop and there asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. “It was a simple proposal,” Annabelle remembers, “but what he said to me was more than enough for me to say yes.”
A Photoshoot in Two Countries
Annabelle and Boon Wee had two separate pre-weeding photoshoots, the first in Taiwan and the other back in Singapore. The couple wanted their two sets to be unique from each other and carefully selected their locations to make it happen. The photoshoots were a considerable addition to their wedding preparations, but the couple loves the results and thinks it was well worth the effort. “Both experiences were wonderful,” Annabelle says, “it will stay with us in years to come.”
For their first shoot, the couple took an unusual route by getting photographed atop a water fountain – all while Annabelle wore her gown. Their Singapore photoshoot was less extraordinary but just as enjoyable. It involved only the couple re-capturing their fun moments under the direction of their talented photographer. Annabelle says that this period was very hectic, but very memorable and still something she and Boon Wee would cherish.
Annabelle and Boon Wee’s union was inked on their solemnisation on 12th February 2011 at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Paradiso. Their families and friends joined us in our joyous celebration. With the assistance of their JP, Dr Ho, they were joined in matrimony.
