if you were invited to the below 3 hotels for wedding, how much would you give?
1. Carlton Hotel
2. Sheraton Towers
3. Grand Hyatt

depends on how close i am with the couple who invited. the last time I went to a friend's wedding at Hyatt I gave $120.

I would give about $130 - $140. but I think that's cos I know the rates haha. I think not many guests knows how much the rates per table are at these days.

ya, i agree not many would know the rates but people usually give the amount based on the hotel names right?

Firstly, I will try to give the amount close to the price per table divide by number of guests ...
As I know, the couples are having financial difficulties ...
However, if they are most good friend, I will give slightly more than the above equation... ha ha

Not a lot know about the marketrate by hotel per se.
Per table cost from the banquet pricelist should give you a rough idea how much to give.

Not everyone goes by the market rates, or by the standard fare provided by the hotels. I know, with absolute certainty, that I'll be incurring a huge loss based on the dinner banquet alone (not considering photography - $6k, bridal gowns/accessories/shoes - $12k, flowers - $800, band - $2k, MUA - $1100, extra decor - $100, flower girl/pageboy outfits - $200, etc), so you'd need to take those into consideration too. My tables are about $1800 each (10 pax), and I definitely don't expect any guest to give $180 each!!

Secondly, even guest trying to find out the price, they tend to forget to *1.177 if it is not nett.
For example, wedding dinner at Grand Hyatt start from $1288++ for 2011 & 2012, it should be around $1516 for 10 pax.

i think i would just give based on our friendship...how close we are..rather than market rate..if they are having financial difficulty why would they choose a 5 star hotel?? on the other hand if it's my close friend having dinner at a chinese restaurant I would still give 100...so...just my 5 cents' worth

I agree with Ver. For 2011, I will not give less than 120 and more for close friends.
