as soon as possible... mine is Jun 2012 have booked it this year March if I am not wrong. from this forum some of them are having theirs on Dec 2012 already find it hard to find the hotel they want with the date they want liao. so will also very much depends on your wedding date and which hotel you looking at.

but first of all you have to set your wedding date then look for the hotel.

it depends on how impt the date is to you. like if there is a very meaningful date that you MUST get married then, or an auspicious date you'd like to choose, then better choose your date then source for the hotels. with such limited dates, then you beter start early. but if you're flexible with date (e,g, just want 2nd half of the yr) then you can source for the ideal hotels you want, and cehck to see which dates they have still available.

as early as possible, you never know if you delay that your date will be taken from the hotel you want. I had that experience.. so booking early is good! A year is recommended, that's how long brides usually book in advance

Try to book the venue asap, especially if you need auspicious dates or weekends(esp Saturdays). I started looking out for hotels in late August and realised that Oct-Dec 2012 is 90% taken, no joke! In the end HTB and me are left with just 2 dates for the hotel we like for weekends from Sept - Dec 2012. I was pretty shock but that is the fact, therefore, be fast! Don't think you are kiasu, cos, it is really taken! =D

there is no benefit of booking later, the price will usually be higher. just like how those who bought BTOs a few years back got a good deal

if our banquet is in 2013, can we book now to avoid the higher rates 2 years later?? will hotels n restaurants accept the booking?

some restaurants/hotels are open for booking already... some only open for booking 6 months prior to the AD, which i felt that is totally silly..

its good if you can start planning and having site visits now, have ample time to view/discuss/negotiate/consider.. i confirmed my banquet within 3 days, thus, didn't manage to negotiate much cos people know you are 'in need'!!

and if you book now, they will offer you the 2013 rates (if they have it), no way to have this year's rates for 2013's banquet.. I asked for penalty if i postpone the banquet, the planner also highlighted to me if i postpone to early 2013 (current date is 3 Nov), the 2013 rates WILL apply even if my contract stated 2012's rates.. =)
