Hi alisonfisher, you might want to try Maybank as their current interest rate as low as 2.99% for min 15K loan. I just took mine as they offer better interest rate compare to other bank. If u want to hv an early redemption, u did not hv to pay full interest rate which is benefit to us. Remember to tink of early redemption possibility to save some money and check with them for every details. Hope tis is help

our budget is 8k but in e end we spent 10k on reno.
we dont want to take reno loan else we can do fanciful designs like cove lights, light box, cornices... haha.
theres alot hidden costs we din noe of. oh well, nevermind. gained some experience.
we just did:
1) built in 6ft wardrobe for MBR ~~~ 1.5k
2) solid top, total 18 ft top and bottom kitchen cabinets. ~~~ 3k
3) kerb for: fridge, 1 toilet shower screen , washing machine ~~~ 500
4) an extra partion to "block" main door (this is optional but our fengshui master wants it) ~~~ 2k , usually people spent this $$ on light box...around this pricing too.
5)window grills ~~~ 800
6)extra window for service yards ~~~ 600
7) misc costs, like electrical workmanship n plumbering works ~ 1200
stuff like install lights, electrical points, water hose
furnishings costs
1) lightings ~ 500
2) electronics ~ a 46" LED, 2k
sound bar 800
3) fridge ~ 500
4) front load washing machine ~ 700 (dont buy 2 in 1, e dryer portion usually will not last u more than a yr)
5) dryer ~ 700
6) sofa ~ 1200
7) Offer bedframe with mattress 1300
TV console, bookshelves, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, cutlery sponsored by frens and parents. cheapest i saw is 100++ per item.
if u borrow 20k, just nice include e furnitures la. just take all e display sets with extended warranties can liao... or wait for GSS... i took all display sets with 3yr extended warranty...

Sure can do la, provided u know what u want and what not to do. I got a buddy at the peak DIY his house and looks fantastic. Then again I had another female friend who wants to save and her walkway now is 80cm thanks to the shoe cabinet.... Can u imagine someone walking thru her corridor.
