Cost of Wedding In Singapore
Dear brides, there are so many things to consider for your wedding, I thought it would be great to have a break down of all the things you would need for your wedding.
Hope this helps anyone out there!
What you will usually need for your wedding:
1. Solemnization: Saying vows, exchange rings and getting married by a Justice of The Peace.
2. Wedding Package: This is what brides have to do alot of research for. Things included are wedding gowns, photoshoots (before wedding and actual day), albums and cars
3. Wedding Banquet: Most Chinese couples have them as a tradition
4. Honeymoon: Enjoying travelling to overseas destinations with your SO
Now here comes the money part, on average, how much most brides set aside for the items.
1. Wedding Package: Between $3,000 to $5,000. They mostly include the following: wedding dress, evening gown, photoshoot, wedding album, photo frame, a few other addons like bridesmaid dresses and father’s suit.
2. Wedding Rings: Between $2,000 to $4,000, you can get wedding bands from reputable shops.
3. Solemnization: Usually at the Registry of Marriage. If you do not have a church wedding or wedding banquet, your ROM can be the main wedding event itself at restaurants or at other venues. About $3,000 - $5,000 for rental of gown, photographer and videographer, bridesmaid dresses rentals and so on.
4. Wedding Banquet: Most common for Chinese couples. Between $600 to $1200 per table, including taxes. A table can seat about 10 people. Lunches are less expensive compared to dinners, and weekdays less costly than weekends. A minimum headcount is usually expected at most 4-5 star hotels. Most couples have 30-50 tables based on min. number of tables expected.
5. Honeymoon: Increasingly popular destinations include Japan and Europe, about $5,000 to $8,000 in total.
Total:
Between $32,000 to $85,000, with the bulk of the costs coming from holding wedding banquet and honeymoon. You should be able to get at least half of the banquet cost back, usually.
Hopes this helps all brides out there!Last edited by Sher; 30-12-2010 at 08:03 PM.

hey belinda dear, most people in singapore actually get packages from local boutiques because it's all-in-one, so it saves on all the coordinating work because the boutique does pretty much everything for you. (In terms of wedding dress, photoshoots (before wedding and actual day), albums and car.
but of course, since you are already having your photoshoots taken at taiwan, and if you buy your dress directly from there also, you don't have to get a full package from local boutiques. What i suggest is that, you can get a local photographer, videographer and make up artist for your actual wedding day.
For photography packages on actual day, the price can range from $900 - $3,000+ depending on the quality and how well known the company is. You will need to ask the photographer+videographer if they are available on your wedding day, and do book at least 3-6 months in advance. If videography included, packages would be about $2,000 - $4,000. These prices were gotten from local photographers and videographers. For make up artist, usually it's $200-500 for day and night for the bride herself. For your bridesmaids and family, usually it's about $80-$200 per person. You may have to consider whether you need make up artist for your bridesmaids and family too.
Hopes this helps you in your budget planning!Last edited by Sher; 30-12-2010 at 08:03 PM.

hey sotong! :P don't have wedding banquet is good, can save so much money haha! will you be having your ROM ceremony first? ROM can do at many places, restaurant, church, sentosa etc, as long as you have a licensed solemniser. (you can see more details here: http://app.rom.gov.sg/internet/reg_i...ed_outside.asp )
after the ROM, you can do anything you want! i think pubbing is such a cool idea, although i honestly have not seen anyone go pubbing after their marriage, you will be the life of the party man haha. you just got me thinking whether i should have a pub after-party heheee.

To confirm with what Sher has provided:
1. Wedding Package: Ranges between $3,000 to $6,000 (Depends if there is local or overseas photoshooting package).
2. Wedding Bands/Rings: Ranges between $2,000 to $4,000 (Both rings included).
3. Wedding Solemnization: Usually held at the Registry of Marriage (ROM) centre or out of ROM centre, which will be held at either restaurant, function room or other places etc. Note: ROM held outside will need to pay additional charges for the transportation for the Justice of Peace. This is a practice and also as a token of appreciation.
4. Wedding Banquets: Most common for Chinese couples. Between $600 to $1800 per table, excluding local taxes (Depends on the location and the reputation of the hotel/restaurant). A table can normally accommodate 10 or more pax (Max up to 12). Wedding Lunches are now getting more & more popular and price is so much cheaper per table as compared to Dinner types, and Weekdays are definitely even less costly than on Weekends, with further additional perks for weddings hold on Weekdays. A fave selection for normal couples are 3 - 4 stars' hotels & restaurants. Most wedding couples have 25 - 50 tables based on minimum number of tables required by the banquet caterer and also based on the selection of Weekend's or Weekday's weddings.
5. Honeymoon: Increasingly popular destinations include Korea, Japan and Europe costs about $5,000 to $12,000.
Hope this helps further. Thanks to Sher and everyone!

My small tip for those who want to save is to sign their bridal package earlier and sign it in Malaysia. That's how I save a bit...

Thank you Sher, Poshberries and Rojak for sharing all these valuable info! It has been a great help while budgeting and planning for my wedding. I do notice that there are a lot of photography companies that offer just purely wedding photography services. And the price difference is so wide apart, like if sign with BS its about $3k+ min package, but if get separate the wedding photography alone cost over $2k. Is there really any difference in terms of quality if get all in one package with the BS or if get them separately? Thanks again ladies for all the help!

Hi Sotong1003
From your text, you seems would like to have wedding banquet.
My opinion will be if you really would like to have one, you can reduce your budget to have everything simple.
You can still have wedding banquet for lunch in some reputative restaurant as well as budget gowns which requiries rental about SGD$300++ or even less.
And flowers you can get from florist directly.
As for photography, you can get as cheap as $800 (the lowest I have come across).
For me, I want to have wedding banquet and I know I can save alot from there. But I don't wish to regret years later of not having one.
Happy Planning, Gal! ^^
