    Gift from Mother In Law

Errr... Girls. Did your MIL ask you wat u want for your wedding? As in... she is gonna buy something for u and give it to u during the tea ceremony right?

My mother in law kept asking what i wanted. Sighh!!! i say "shui-bian. If u wan buy, juz buy gold lo. it is a tradition i think. just a small small one will do?"... I already avoided her for many days over this topic becos i paiseh lah.

And den... i just drove her to Chinatown becos she say she wanna buy something. Then... she drag me to gold shop....

    Shops over shops!!!

Urghh~!!! How i wish my HTB were with me just now.

Did your mother in law bring you girls go jewellery shops and ask u choose your own things???

If your MIL says that, then maybe since you are paisei, then maybe you want your MIL to choose for you? Just tell her you want something simple?

I mean.. yeah. i already picked the design i want last night becos im kinda being forced to (at that point of time . the situation . urgh! . u know?)

I only picked a small bracelet.

Den she say "ok. this design... buy one set!"

I was like... when the salesgirl press the calculator, my heartbeat beats so fast. Look at the gold price is crazily S$66.50 now. The salesgirl obviously very happy serving my mother in law.

And im sitting beside with my red cheek. Becos i really dont want her to spend such money. I almost fainted when i see the figure. U know?

I kept emphasizing... "err.. juz buy a bracelet will do. it is just a token from your heart. i really appreciate. i dont wan u spend so much". But she oso kept repeating .... "buy one set lah! wedding leh!"

    Urgh!!!

i consider myself lucky when i managed to tell my MIL to go home and cool down and consider before making any decision. And i gave her the lame excuse saying that "oh...your son say he is hungry. we should go home".

    So clever of you!
Maybe you just tell her straight and if she insist buying a set, then maybe just don't get a very expensive one then...

I kept telling her those kinda lame excuses like... "still early. we still got time. lets wait for the gold price to drop."

Seriously, i know she got heart wanna buy giv me. Not that i dun wanna accept. I see the way she set her budget to buy me something. i feel very paiseh lah. And... arrgh!! i dunno how to tell u lah. Its like... accept such expensive gift from her??? I was like... *blush*

I would prefer surprise also. Becos if she dont tell me, i still ok. But now, when i know the cost of the gift that she's gonna buy, i felt bad.

cheesecake: ur MIL so sweet to want to buy you a set that you will like. to the older generation, yellow gold keeps better compared to white gold pieces. i think if u tell her u dun wan her to spend so much money, she may get upset that u dun appreciate her efforts lor...just accept it graciously and thank her?
