Group Photos Instead of Table Shots

    Hello all!

Usually table shots are taken for Chinese-style banquets. It doesn't really make sense to me because usually our friends/relatives don't come in packs of 10. I am thinking of taking photos by groups, perhaps inviting each group to the stage to take a meaningful group shot while the rest are feasting. The next group to get ready next to the stage. It may sound messy but to me, this is way more meaningful than a table shot. Has anyone done this before?

Actually it is a common practice for us in Hong Kong and it is not really so messy. The emcee will be there to call each group of relatives/friends to come up to the stage to take photos and remind the next group to get ready. I also prefer this way and will do it in my own wedding. The background of the photos will look nicer as well.

This sounds like a good idea too, as relatives and friends may not be sitting with each other in the same table.

I think it's better to have a nicely decorated backdrop and everyone gets to take shot with the bride and groom in their groups and cliques.

yeah. i think a group shot is better too. just call your guests by table or by group so that everything will still be in order while taking photos

We also did group shots because it's more orderly and easier for us.

Maybe instead of taking the photos while dinner is going on, you can take group shots after dinner? It might be a little messy getting groups of people onto stage whilst people are eating and waiters are serving food.

if you're going buffet, you set group photos and let the groups done with the shoot get food while others wait for their turn for the shoot with newlyweds

I think u cn still go to each table to do a casual grp shot(cn separate them while at the table). its nt easy getting ppl to go to the stage, especially those elderly whom may hv difficulty walking. I went to a wedding which they hv long tables rather than round tables so the couple just went to each table and grab any friends they want take photo with.

Hmm. Group photos are also nice. Just set-up a way as to which group will do the shoot first

table shots can be stressful for the bride and groom if they have many guests. it's better to do it if there are only a number of guests
