I'm now planning for my ROM and shun bian prepare budget planning for my wedding.
Breakdown as followings:
To bride's family - 30k (Those pinjin and wedding biscuits for relatives and Guo Da Li, maybe less than this amount)
Banquet (family) - 10k
Party (friend) - 20k
Flora decoration - 7k
Bridal package - 5k (2k left and spare another 3k for additional poses and probably overseas PS)
Stationery - 0.5k (including invitation cards, guest book and etc)
AD photography and videography - 3k (inclusive of montage making, etc)
Helpers angpau - 3k
Around 60k for wedding budget, then maybe 25k for honeymoon. My budget is quite conservative as I always prepare for the worst scenario i.e. prepare more is always better.
Hope to recover 10k from my banquet and party =P
Everything is money money and MONEY!!!

Ah. 10k for banquet is really very little? considering the fact that a decent table for 10 can cost around 1300? Unles u're not having a lot of tables and is at somewhere else other than a hotel!
And yes, everything is money money money ): But it's a once in a life-time thingy. So, MAKE IT GOOD! (like what my mum says)

Because most of our elder relatives are Malaysian, so probably we will only invite around 10 - 12 tables in Peony Jade or TungLok for wedding lunch. Will not have it in hotel as both side parents always feel that "hotel food is not nice" *applicable to Malaysian*.
Then have some chio party with friends at night in some cosy French restaurant or hotel.

my cousin had her wedding in church with a simple buffet for those who attended her church wedding and have her tea ceremony at the church too. the also have dinner for everyone.
my another cousin had his church wedding invited all his friends and family to the church ceremony then follow by buffet lunch with tea ceremony. then dinner only for family memebers and helpers only.
I think the cost of buffet for church should not cost too much but there are people who tends to give gift instead of ang pow when they attend church ceremony.

i think honeymoon can be around that price! Especially if u are going to a western country (eg. Europe) for a good 10 days or more, plus all the spending! And I do agree that its best to be conservative.

I myself is getting ready for that big day too and I was hoping you all can tell me more about the whole thing on how much to give to the bride's family.
Firstly, they're asking for 10 tables (1300/table) and they will be taking away all the red packets from that 10 table.
is that too much do you think?
hope to hear your opinion on this matter.
