How to plan a wedding if inlaws are getting divorced?

I am a bit confused as my man has proposed to me a months ago and about 2 weeks ago my inlaws has announced about their divorce. I am concerned about emotional background for both of them during the ceremony and my SO is worried about cutting divorce-related costs, so that we could afford a great wedding. I believe, that money are not of that importance for now and we could have not that posh wedding, so his parents wouldn't feel obliged to cover half of the expenses (as it was previously discussed) they can't afford for now.
If you have any similar article or have any advice, I would appreciate it!
