a la carte style bridal stuff, anyone been there done that?

    Dear Pretties...

Anyone did a la carte style for their bridal stuff?
Meaning not taking up the traditional bridal pkgs...

How's the range for the following stuff?
    1. Pre-Wedding Shoot
    2. MUA for Pre-Wedding Shoot & AD
    3. Day Gown
    4. Evening Gown
    5. Tea/Kua Gown
    6. Bridal Car
    7. Corsages & Bouquet
    8. AD Videography
    9. AD Photography

    Many Thanks!

ala carte really have to do alot of research for each item, the forums will be your best friend haha. Not necessary that in total it will be cheaper than getting package, because you are getting each item separately. You intend to go a la carte, shipei?

my estimate for each would be:
    1. Pre-wedding: $3-7k (Including top-up photos, etc. Can go for overseas also)
    2. MUA: $500-$1k since you will need MUA for your bridesmaids also
    3. Day Gown: $2k - $5k depending on how elaborate you want your gown
    4. Evening gown: $1.5k-$3k
    5. Kua gown: $1.5k - $3k
    6. Bridal Car: $1-3k
    7. Corsages and Bouquet: $1k-$2k
    8: AD videography: $2k-$4k
    9: AD photograph: $2k-$5k

phew that was alot. i think the gowns you can try get package from a bridal studio, that should save some amount. Photography and pre-wedding photography also can try to get package.

this sounds like a whole lot of $$$$$ ! I believe you can decrease the lower end of the scale by half.. there are cheaper options out there. but generally a la carte costs more than packages, though they provide much more flexibility to what you want

    Thats my worry of overspending!

1 main thing that I'm not very keen in getting bridal package is that they have
those studio shots... THICK photo albums (which we really don't need!)...

Anyone know of Bridal Studios which takes out of norm photos?
I plan to go all the way for outdoor shots only...

SO many things to think about!

    Hi Shipei,

I went the ala-carte route as well. I agree with rojak that it'll cost more. It depends what you and your htb wants.

hmm.. do wedding packages usually allow for some flexibility so that you can customise some aspects of it to your own liking but still have the cost savings of a package?

i heard my friends say DIY some parts can save money... do wedding packages allow you to take out some areas of it (& hence lower the cost) then you al a carte DIY it yourself..?

Thanks in advance for the help

how about engaging a wedding photographer ala carte? I think you could remove some costs if you dont want the photo album.

the total amount of wedding packages is actually to help you save money because they get the things cheaper from their suppliers. Mostly when i enquire at bridal studios about saving money if i dont want this or that, they can replace with certain items that i want instead.

If take out the items totally, usually can only save like $100-$200 per item only. So it makes more sense to replace with another item that you need, instead of removing it totally.

@shipei bridal package normally includes bridal gown, flower bouquets, evening gown, photography. The package varies according to bridal studio actually, so you have to see what you want and go for the package that suits you. the higher class bridal studios will have lesser items in their packages

shipei I will not recommend you to use the package photographer on actual day unless they are very sure who they are giving you on that day.

outside photographer will cost about $800 and above for acutal day depending what you look for lah. best find those with experience one la (but will cost a bit higher) mine cost me 1.2K.

yes there are more and more such places now... it used to be bridal studios that hire photographers, now it becomes the other way round -- photographers setting up bridal studios so they can provide the gowns for their customers too. these packages tend to focus more on the photography.. you might want to zoom in on these

Yeah, we just signed up for the gown and the photography, the remaining things we found elsewhere. It's cheaper that way I guess.
