dun like their salesperson like LK... very fake.
also did not fulfil their promise to send over early an unedited photo we chose, so that we can use that for our wedding card.

the feel of the photos are missing... v different from the albums we viewed over there haha.

I signed up for MDW and like any other BS, there will be pros and cons.

The salesperson who sold me my package was LK. Like what everyone had said, he was all smile and nice prior to signing. However, the next time we went back into the shop, he was everything but friendly. Rest of the staff were very friendly and remembered us, made us feel at home.

We were concerned about the photoshoot since we were not allowed to choose photographers of our choice and lack of trial makeup. Nevertheless, they assured us that they would assign the most experienced photographer and makeup artist for us.

Good experience for the actual photoshoot. Felt great to have an "entourage" and being treated like a princess. They were constantly giving us drinks, bread, fruits etc. The makeup artist was always touching up for me and making sure everything looks good. Although I was disappointed as it rained heavily and all my locations got to be changed indoors, I still had fun throughout the day. Nevertheless, what I didn't understand was I choose a gown with a long train but none of the photos showed it having a long train. Kind of a waste.

Photo selection was a little annoying as they assigned a salesperson to be by your side 24/7. Each time we deleted a photo, she will comment on how nice it was and we shouldn't delete. When we asked for some alone time, she will step back, like 3 steps, and still be within hearing range. She then kept selling us package to top up for more photos, even using hard tactics like telling my HTB how guests will view him as being stingy if the album is thin. Nevertheless, we still topped up coz HTB likes the photos. As for me, I felt that the photos were not up to my standard as it wasn't the feel I have communicated to them. I even showed them samples and they said it can be done. But in the end, still the very posey and standard wedding photos.

They have very limited range suits for guys. HTB didnt't really need to choose as the choice was obvious. I showed them gowns that I like during the interview and they took some out for me to try on.

Don't expect huge quantity even though they boast about their huge and fantastic gown collection. We were allowed to browse through the entire gown collection for AD and handpicked on our own. There were only 3-4 racks of evening gowns, and about 8 racks of wedding gowns. Of which includes gowns that are subjectable to topups.

Gowns under the normal range are ok looking, you can find some really good pieces if you are sharp. My gf managed to get a few for me and they look good. VIP collection are a little over the top, more like the Indonesian Chinese feel. Lastly, the Swarovski range with sky high prices. In the end, I choose a Swarovski gown and top up for it, despite it having only one crystal. Tip: you can still get Swarovski gown under the normal range so really dig and look. However, those are older gowns so some may not look as good.

Colours for their evening gowns quite limited and there was only 1 reasonable looking piece out of all that I've tried.

Overall it was still a good experience with them despite all the cons. Now looking forward to getting the album and hoping it will turn out nice. Most importantly, bargain hard with them. Everything can be bargained for, including gown top up prices.

My experience with mdw is pretty ok (havent had my actual day so can't comment on all of their services). I feel that wedding is an important event and everyone will have high expectation on everything, myself included. Thus, it is important to do up research before committing on any services. So far, my experience on mdw are as follows:

    Gown selection for photoshoot
Before we select our attire, someone will check with us on any particular theme or places for photoshoot which we had in mind. Of course, research is important as we did not want to have a 'templated' photoshoot, in which the photos look similar to any other couples'. After communicating our ideas and needs, the person will select a few gowns for us to try on, before deciding on them. As a rather demanding bride-to-be, i took my time and kept requesting for more dresses to try on. The entire process took about 4 hours and the person helping me did not seem impatient or angry. What i also like about the process is that the person will use her camera to take photos of you wearing each gown so that you can compare them on the computer later. The variety of gowns for photoshoot is also quite good as compared to other places as they look new and clean. We can also choose to decide if we want to top up for props.

    Photoshoot

Photoshoot was a pleasant experience as we are taken care of right from the beginning. We had a van to put all our stuff, and it really helps to have a driver to ferry us around. Before leaving the studio, we met up with the photographer and told him our ideas and the 'feel' that we want for our photos. Although he does not look old, age is not exactly an accurate gauge for the person's passion and experience. Afterall, i prefer a more open-minded photographer who is willing to try out new things as compared to one who is always sticking to the same poses. We even brought our own props and the photographer had to think on his feet on how to integrate the props and bring out a story so that the photos make sense. The assistant also gave a few tips on posing before we leave the studio, e.g. how we should not stick our faces too closely when we kiss so that our faces will not look squashed in the photos. As i had done an overseas photoshoot before this, i will naturally compare that experience to the one in mdw. I feel that the mua in mdw is more meticulous as she will tell the photographer to stop and come over to wipe our sweat and adjust our hair and attire before each photo is taken.

    Photos selection
We were excited to see how our photos will turn out, and naturally our expectations are high (since we paid so much). About 300 plus photos were shown and of course, we are not going to buy all 300+ of them. We took our time to browse through the photos and try to spot those which cmi (e.g. those with our expressions looking really weird, or those which have alot of distractions which needed to have major editing). After a few rounds of deleting, the person will try to give advice and persuade you to buy more pictures. I feel that we should not be too mindful of this as at the end of the day, it's up to us if we choose to succumb to their sales talks. It also helps if we can have an idea of how our album will look like while selecting the photos and can look at a series of photographs of the same background, and delete some, leaving about 5 of them left per location/scene.

    AD gown selection
Actual day gowns are better in variety in my opinion. They look newer, and have more details as compared to the photoshoot gowns. There are also some gowns which were previously from the VIP collection, and has become regular gown selection after a while. These gowns are really pretty. Also, i've managed to find one (with a little top up) which look like a vera wang diana gown. Similar to the previous gown selection, the person will take photos of you wearing each gown so that you can compare them on the computer later. I must commend that the person helping me that time is really patient as i took 5 hours in selecting the gowns.

Overall, yes, mdw is higher-priced than other companies, but as long as you do your research and communicate your demands clearly and politely to the them, things will turn out fine.

    Hi,

Do you all have the issue with MDW after agreeing on the price, when you are about to pay then they tell you the price is not inclusive of GST?

Yes i dun know why the heck they give prices less GST in the first place. Call a spade a spade, GST need be made no matter how - why quote less GST and reveal the full pricing just before payment.

Make sure you put in ALL your requirements inside the contract prior to payment. During the roadshow, we asked the salesperson if bride's mummy's makeup can be included inside the contract. He didn't say no, but he made it seem that if we asked the makeup artist nicely, she can probably do it for free for us.

After signing up, when we asked LK abt it, it was a FLAT NO. Made us looked like cheapskates asking for freebies. Needless to say, the makeup artist can't be bothered with such a request at all. Regretted not making them put it down inside contract.

    Hi

I have a package with MDW.
Just want to check with all BTBs who have package with them, whether are we allow to choose the coordinator, Photographer & MUA? Or we have to stick to whoever they have assigned?

    Thumbsup Photo selection

Hi, I just came back from my Hk photo shoot last week. Going for my photos selection soon… Intend to top up some photos as my package only have 30 free photos.

Are they generally strict with the price of the photos? i.e. strictly $80 per photo or its negotiable? Can someone share the top-up deal with them? Me and my HTB are very lousy with bargaining so wana get a feel of the ‘market rate’. Thanks!

It is certainly bargainable. But if look too interested in the photos, I reckon any discount they give you won't be much. I dun like the photos and did not add on, had a hard time choosing the free photos and the salesgirl offered dirt cheap rates (something like half-price?!) for those we had yet to weed out.
