That depends on how many pax guests that you are feeding.
Normally, 3 tier, it should be do-able minimum by... erm... half kg (top tier), 2kg (middle tier), 3.5kg (bottom tier)? I mean... i estimate based on my guts feelin' la. It still depends on the cake shop.
And it depends on how much per kg the cake shop charge you ba. Nowadays it can easily cost S$55 per kg i guess?
Be prepared that you might have to put aside a minimum budget of S$400 for your cake.

we really look for places and people that can be of great service without making us pay too much.

you can lower your expenses by searching for possible sponsors for your wedding or friends that'll be willing to help you in small expenses like printing the invitations or such.

you can save for your wedding if you prepare for it early and with enough time. that way you can still canvas for cheaper or reasonable priced packages. you can also do some lists of the things that you really need for your wedding and the not really very needed ones.

Never had a real cake in weddings too!
I think photo shoot is the most essential cos it's once a life time and it will "record" our moments together.

prioritize the things that you really need first.

Plan a budgeted wedding. I think this is the only method to save expenses.

try listing the things that you need to prioritize. that way, you can avoid overspending on things that you don't really need for your wedding. you should also check out prices for each item that you'll buy before purchasing immediately.

Yes , the best way is to create a spreadsheet and list down the items one by one (possible to estimate based on all these wonderful wedding forums). From there, you will know roughly how much to save (e.g. for myself, wedding+honeymoon will cost about $30K). Then you can adjust the wedding date according to your comfortable saving rate per month.

looking for packages would make your expenses a lot cheaper. so i suggest that you find a lot of packages to choose from.
