Possible to handle resale procedures myself?

Hi all, did any one here handle the purchase of resale flat yourself? I was thinking that if i can find the unit i want through viewings, will i be able to save on agent commission? Because if i appoint an agent basically i would be paying him/her to find a unit and arrange viewings for me, i find that i can do that myself. is it advisable?

I don't think so, quite a lot of thing to do.
Not to forget you also have wedding to prepare, it might be too much for both of you.
Normally you walk in right, that agent will be happier, cause he/she can earn both sides.
Which I don't recommend cause the more this person will try to push the sale to you since commission is more.

Hmm, any particular area you are looking for?
Nowaday they have specialist for particular neighbourhood, so you are able to find more units.
I know 1 that is very good at selling, buying I am not sure, if you want I can recommend you to her.

reason why i also wanted to do it myself is because i can handle the viewings myself and dont need agent to coordinate with me, i find it more hassle that way. also last time when i found a place to rent myself, the agent for the unit ask me for commission also! so effectively he is getting commission from me and the landlord.

but anyway, just reading up abit on what agents have to do to transact a property, and i realized that there is many rules and regulations that have to abide by, and paperwork to do. Because of that probably i will hav to look for an agent to represent me. thanks jiemin for the advice, how can they earn both sides if they are supposed to represent the seller and not the buyer?

Hi Emily, they actually can. Especially when there is an open house and then you walk in yourself after seeing their advertise. If not, you actually contact the agent when you see his ad, then he will represent you in this case. So he will also earn from your side, this is what I understand but of cause he will do the doc for you too.
