Things to look out for when selecting a venue

    HI ALL!

I would like to ask what some factors we should look out for when selecting a wedding venue? E.g. Obstruction of view, capacity.

Thanks! I am actually hoping to settle on a venue for either dinner or lunch next November. (I'm wondering if the actual day is held as lunch, will it be too rush?)

    THANKS!!!

    bingo...

    things u want to consider:

    a) got pillar / no pillar?
    b) table count (most hotels/places would have their own minimum table count tht the customer need to meet...if say you roughly know u r not looking at having a big size event, no point inviting all the tom / dick / harry for the sake of meeting the venue table count)
c)location - tht may bring in other side factors such as ease of accessibility, ample parking space, easy to get taxi for departing guests after the event

hi fredashi! you might want to consider 4 A's.

Accessibility -- if it's easy for you and your guests to go to the venue
    Affordability -- the rates
    Accommodation -- their service
    Amenities -- their facilities

Important to know what is important to you and your SO. Some people rank food quality/service as top, others will be ambience (pillarless, high ceiling, long march-in). Budget is also a key concern.

Doing lunch banquet can be a bit of a rush. It depends in whether you are following auspicious hours, can it fit into the schedule, enough time to shuttle between your house to your SO's house for tea ceremonies or can do tea ceremony in the hotel etc. Need to ask parents for their opinions as well. Good luck!

THANKS! I've went to a few of them. However, they are not of my choice ); any recommendations for location? I hope to get each table priced at about 700-800$

Most of the items are a given, such as venue, which one can easily judge its suitability by going for a viewing. The service of the hotel wedding co-ordinator, on the other hand, can be a challenge to decide. A good co-ordinator can help to achieve a good outcome for the wedding. However, good service are becoming more rare these days.
