start with a budget (how much you intend to spend) then start with banquet venue! that's the one that's the most difficult to choap. you can visit bridal shows to get started. there are 2 coming: style weddings from 5-9 Oct, Blissfull Outdoor Weddings in the following weekend.

FIRST and foremost is to book the banquet / ROM date. hotel availability dwindles at an alarming rate, so settle that first
NEXT big thing is the bridal studio / pre-wed photographer
after these 2 are settled, you can then move on to the smaller things. If any of you need a detailed checklist, drop me a PM, i will email it to you.

I bought a wedding planner book from Kikki K. I found it very useful in keeping things organize. It has a checklist of everything (location, invites, photographers, etc). so you know you what you might have missed out on.

The most tiresome thing is to book the wedding banquet venue, especially with the min tables restriction

Also have to ask your parents what they expect, and him to ask his parents what they expect... :P
Stick to the budget, decide on what and what not to compromise (unless you have no budget heh!).

I started off by checking the forums for the checklists available for download. After that, do some comparison and select the items that I will need for my wedding. As for budget control, both of us have discussions whether it is value for money before we decided to go ahead. There are a few columns (Deposit Paid ($) Amount left for payment ($) Total Amount ($)) for each item in the checklist which are used to keep track of the amount spent.
Just sharing what I have in my checklist, hope this helps.
