Mine is a joint bank account, i think we are taking the first step to sharing our income. Since whatever we set aside for our wedding, we put into the bank account and pay from there. Both me and hubby contribute to this shared bank account for other expenses like renovation also.

Sharing! But we will apportion according to our income. And it will be from our joint account too (:

nice to hear that most brides here have joint bank account.. my earnings are not as high as my hubby's, so most of the things are from him actually. I choose the things and he pays

joint bank account +1. Of cause I do not contribute as much as my hubby since he earns more and has lesser loan for university.

But I think the sincerity is more important as long as you do contribute something rather than let the guy pay everything.

Hmm just wondering how you girls go about with the joint account. Do you open one savings acct with both names? or have a credit card for common expenses? Coz i realize the money that we will probably use from joint acct will be big expenses, so it's better to have a CC so we can collect points / rebates from it too =P

For me, it's a saving acct with both names (for the time being), if there's a need for hugh expenses, HTB will use his credit card first, then we just pay that particular amount during our joint account. So that can save the need of getting an additional credit card? Since it wont be paid through Giro but AXS instead (for my case)

that's what we're thinking of actually.. coz there cannot be a "joint credit card". just wondering if it would get messy or troublesome in future when there are more purchases (e.g. house, furniture, groceries, daily expenses..)?

hmmm... that's true. or can just apply for a credit card just for common household expenses? More for bigger items? I think small daily expenses (eg. groceries), can just use the joint account atm card for payment?

Yes! better start early! Especially when you know that he/she is the one that you are gonna spend your future with (: It's always better to have that extra savings when the time comes

Both our parents agreed that my side would pay for all my needs and the rest of all the expenses would be paid for by my hubby's side.

me and my hubbie's side shared and split up the expenses of the wedding. during the planning, both sides reached an understanding to what percentage of the expenses each one should pay.
