    Wedding Package or Ala Carte

    Dear BTBs,

My SO and I intend to skip pre-wed photoshoot and just get

    - AD photographer
    - AD videographer

Not sure whether this will have more savings. Given that under the ala-carte scheme, we will have to source for our own gowns, suits, MUA etc, will this be more expensive?

Has anyone tried doing this before?

Also, i see in a lot of packages that the photographer will only be with u for 10 hours, which means if u start at 9am they finish at 7pm? does that mean u have to hire someone else to cover the night shots? sorry these questions sound stupid but we are really confused ;p

Hi, it is quite standard to have 10hrs package for Photographer. What normally suggested is like:
6-12pm (6 hrs) - cover your PS and VG from morn till lunch.
7pm- 11pm (4hrs) -cover ur wedding dinner time.

You can negotiate the hours, just plan how much req in the morn and the rest can be utilised in the evening, for eg some couple may have solemnisation ard 30min before dinner starts. The morn depend how early you want the PS and VG to come for gatecrash..etc..there are some who start 8-9am...

    Hope this helps..

just to add on, both you and SO will norm depart to the hotel and rest ard 1-6pm and tat where your PS and VG also rest and "free up", also in case u require to make them montage of the morn events to show during dinner, if urs is a wedding dinner.

There are some bridal shops that offers package include PS(photographer) and at same time pre-wedding shots, actual days plus all MUA andgowns, suits..etc.It is norm to engage a package with Pre-wedding shots and/or Actual day gowns, etc and you can engage separate PS and VG. But some package are quite reasonable and save you time..
    Is up to U.

I choose the whole package because it helps lessen the time for preparation of things for the wedding.

I think you will save more when you skip wedding photography but honestly, I prefer the photography to the videography because you can display it around the house.

I'm not skipping the photography or videography. IMO, these are important parts of the wedding.
