How to Have a Beautiful Complexion on Your Wedding Day

Looking your best on your wedding day is something every bride wants so as to please her groom and feel beautiful about herself. But while make-up can do a lot of magic in hiding the flaws in your facial skin, you might still feel a little insecure knowing that isn’t perfect from the inside. Fortunately, there are natural ways to get the best look on your wedding day, and achieve a healthy, glowing skin even with just a few months preparation. Here’s how:

Keep Yourself Hydrated

Our body is composed of mostly water, which circulates throughout our various systems to keep it functioning well. Since our skin is the largest organ, it requires a large amount of water in order to be protected from harmful substances. Water rejuvenates and gives oxygen to our skin to keep it healthy and well. If it’s adequately hydrated, our body will function at its fullest and our skin becomes smooth and protected against premature aging.

Wear Sunscreen

You cannot avoid the sun until your wedding day. So protect your skin with Sunblock. Having a sun-tanned skin is good but don’t let your skin get damaged because of too much exposure to the sun. Protecting your skin with sunscreen will help avoid sunburn, wrinkling and dryness. For better protection, use sunscreens with higher SPF for UV protection.

Cleanse and Exfoliate Your Skin

Due to excessive exposure to sunlight and pollution, the outer layer of our skin becomes prone to damage. So washing your whole body before going to bed should be in your evening routine because it helps get rid of the bacteria and harmful agents that you’ve accumulated throughout the day, and which could break into your skin barrier. Taking a bath will not only refresh you, it would also facilitate the exfoliation of your skin or the renewal of its outer layer. You could make your own all-natural exfoliating spa with just a concoction of brown sugar, lemon extract, and almond oil. You can apply it while having a warm shower before you go to bed.

Quit Unhealthy Habits

Even though you’re eating right and hydrating every day, if you still maintain some unhealthy habits, then all your efforts won’t work much. So have 8 hours of sleep every night to minimize the stress that hastens the aging process. Quit Smoking, as we all know that it does not provide any good benefit to our body and especially to our skin. Eating oily, starchy food and sweets is also believed to be a factor in having acne, so avoid it to be acne-free. Also, lessen your intake of alcoholic drinks, as alcohol dehydrates and causes depletion of vital nutrients that helps maintain our skin healthy.

Maintain a Healthy Diet

Make sure to fill your diet with foods that contain these vital elements:

  • Vitamin A – You can get this from eating fish, chicken, eggs, pork, and fortified dairy products. Vitamin A helps the skin maintain its elasticity, as well as improves the moisture and texture of the skin. It also helps protect our skin from photo aging by fortifying our cells and tissues against alterations due to exposure to free-radical agents.
  • Vitamin C – This stimulates the growth of collagen in our body that gives structure and strength to our skin. Eating green leafy vegetable and citrus fruits could supply the skin with a lot of collagen.
  • Vitamin E – This is an anti-aging element that makes our skin strong in fighting harmful toxins. Additionally, studies show that Vitamin E helps prevents cancer. Food that are rich in vitamin E include corn, asparagus, sweet potato and broccoli.
  • Antioxidants – antioxidants promote skin integrity and prevents inflammation and injury. Nuts such as almonds and pecans are great sources of this one. You could have some berries too if you can get it around your area.
