Hey yappie, I just read the ST papers yesterday about the promotional offer by Royal Caribbean cruise thats only at $700++ for 2 pax which is very cheap. They also published a full page review of how a teen loves being on board the ship but after reading the review it didnt really seemed appearling to me. She only mentions mainly about watching shows, some place to play wii on board the ship, shopping mall...sounds kinda boring to me.

I went to Star Virgo a few times and like it cos of the food at different restaurants as well as the swimming pool, jacuzzi etc. The gd thing about it is the balcony class which is v romantic as you and htb can stand right at the balcony and see the ocean

But to Alaska, would that mean you will be able to alight the ship and visit Alaska? I am planning to go on another cruise with htb soon, gonna take a look at what Royal Caribbean offers.

starryz,

I also came across the Royal Carribean booth in MS 2 weeks back. The current promotional packages are on Asia cruises. I took a copy of their booklet for the cruises to the rest of the world.

The prices are pretty steep if we want to include the cruisetour (i.e. meaning the landtour of Alaska). The ports of call is at Vancouver and that means we will have to fly ourselves to Vancouver from SG first.

Hmm...i think it may be more than S$10k for 2 pax...

I am also keen on the alaska fly cruise, esp the alaska northbound or southbound cruise. I think it should be very nice for honeymoon. Anyone care to share their experience.

i think i might be the first batch of singaporean to sit the Royal Caribbean a few yrs back..

There were only a few places avaliable and we went to malaysia and phuket..

sitting the Royal Caribbean is a very different experience than star virgo.. the price is worth it.. the rooms are bigger and the food is better.. they also have alot of programs for ppl on honeymoon when i was there.. you have a butler ( shared of coz with other cabins) that waits on u hand and foot.

The place is so romantic and the ship is very big so u wont sea sick., my ex got the tickets for us at a low price but even then, it was very expensive coz its in US$ and it was still quite "new".

now i think the price has gone down already. definately should try out, worth the experience..

Oh wow can you tell me more Ning, like what are the things you can do on the Royal Caribbean? I wanna go on a cruise again but I can't make up my mind whether to go for Star Virgo or RC, I saw RC on their website and newspaper but looks abit boring leh. But I do know the food on Star Virgo was so so only lor..the main buffet that they give is not nice de. Only the free restaurants one not bad and the paid restuarants one very nice lol.

Tell me more about RC please, I wanna try RC but afraid it might be boring compared to SV.. thank you!

okok.. i have to recall from memory..

there was a casino ( of coz which one dun have) and then there was a lounge whereby the guest everynight have dancing and singing band etc.. there were some programs for the kids whereby the staff will teach the guest how to fold napkins into animals etc.. then there are auctions, some games for all the guests..

best part!! on the 2nd or 3rd night there is this ballroom gala, where everyone sits down for a romantic dinner. the guests must put on their bests and we were treated like kings and queens. all the food is free but wine is not la.. the food was FANTASTIC.. something like 5 star hotel standard..

tt time went with my ex, and we were registered as a couple mah.. so we were escoted to the top part of the resturant and can see the sea view etc in the ship, then it was more romantic then the family lower deck in the resturant.. candle light dinner than someone play violin.

after the dinner there is a place in the resturant tt you can dance..

you can feed the seagulls.. etc.. quite cool lei..

er... hmm.. what else ah.. when we dock at any place, there are some tours u can follow to explore the area..

cant think of anymore at the moment..

wow so romantic!! the other activities sound ok but the ballroom gala one must have been really nice! :D How about the meals? is it like restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the package or must pay extra? I know star virgo one they got include restaurant class for all 3 meals. think i might give RC a try this time!

ive took the royal carribean a few years ago too. some activities available on board, that i could think of off hand, includes swimming, morning buffet, lunch buffet , dinner buffet, supper buffet, games , activties and shows for kids, performances, movies, casino, pubs and clubs for clubbing, room for passengers to play board games and majong, art auction etc etc.. Other than that, the ship also dock at some of the nearby islands after a few days of cruising on the sea. You can sign up for land tours to explore the island or places when the ship docks.

Perhaps it will be better to go with more people, as certain activities will definietly be more interesting if more people join in.
