Diamond or no diamond on wedding band?

Hi Girls! need a piece of advice from you.. i'm choosing my wedding band, and very caught between 2 extreme designs -- a row of diamonds (super bling!), or a plain ring with no diamond at all. Would you recommended having diamonds on the ring at all? considering that the wedding band would be worn everyday for the rest of my life, i was wondering it it would be a good idea to have so many diamonds on it. would the setting get loose or weak after some years, then the diamonds drop? i've heard horror stories of diamonds dropping and getting lost, and i sure don't want ot live in fear every day in everything i do! yet, the bling is so attractive.. >.<

if you have a proposal ring then can no need have diamonds on your bands.

i have a proposal ring and my wedding bands do have 5 diamonds on it. even my fiance's ring has it too.

i don't intend to wear my proposal ring everyday, coz it's too "popped out" for my line of work. gets in the way. and my proposal ring is a solitaire with no other diamonds, so getting a row of diamonds on the wedding band can complement the proposal ring too. tt was the purpose of my solitaire actually. simple so can easily wear 2 rings. :) but now i'm thinking of getting a rolling wedding band.. that has no diamonds..

where did you get your rings from? issit good? i read that LH and chains have alot of problems with the setting lately.. larry's and other custom-made ones are much more trustable nowadays... hmm..

Hmm, I guess no bride won't love diamonds? haha.
Those diamonds are huge and pop up?
For my wedding band, mine have a row of small diamonds on top while my htb is plain one with no diamonds.
I guess once the bride wore it everyday, she will take extra care on it.
What you heard might not be happening to you.
Did you wore your proposal ring everyday? It doesn't drop right and wasn't that scary right?
I'm planning to wore both my proposal and wedding band after my ROM.

Ypu can always go back to the shop for regular cleaning and maintenance... don't worry too much...

my engagement ring is a solitaire from lee hwa forevermark.
my wedding band is from love&co, a row of diamonds around the band. prefer this to half-band diamonds as when the ring turns, the diamonds still can be seen.

as to whether the wedding should have diamonds or not, it's up to individual couples. not all diamond bands will catch your fancy. i strongly believe in the love at first sight for the wedding bands as you are going to wear it everyday.

My wedding band is "half-eternity" with 6 small diamonds? But the diamonds are not "inserted" inwards. Ah, cant find the correct wording. Anyway, I think its nice since it's not normal but i guess it depends on individual preference? I initially wanted to go for a simple band w/o diamond after taking into consideration the price difference, but my HTB insist that I go for my initial choice as thats what I want. We managed to get a pretty decent price for it since HTB got my engagement ring from the same person, and his ring is really simple, so it kinda offset everything :p

I agree with magicdust that full eternity ring is nicer, but might be too bling for me!

You're welcome! :)

I was attracted to the name too, went to google it and it was love at first sight. Wanted it to be my proposal ring initially (after hinting the HTB), but he mentioned that no guys will propose with that. So... it become my wedding band instead!

Hi Rojak

Yet to get mine and currently sourcing for it.

My choice of ring is similar to most BTB choosing ... a stretch of diamonds to match with my solitaire proposal ring, where my HTB's wll be super plain without any diamond but may have simple lines or design on it.

I wore my proposal ring everyday but when I am at home, I will not wear them. I only wear them when I am going out. But of course, it depends on where I go, if I am going swimming etc, I will not wear it.

This applies to my wedding band too.

So far I never heard that diamond "drop" off the ring, I think if it really drop then your finger may be "out of shape".

My choice of wedding band: a stretch of diamonds to compliment my proposal ring, htb will be simple and plain without diamonds.

For my choice, there are 2 types of design; full round of diamonds or 1/2 round of diamonds. Not sure choose which type @.@

wow seems like ALL the brides here choose diamond-set wedding bands!! :D I also love it!! maybe not eternity, but half eternity. don't waste diamond. use the money for bigger diamonds on the half eternity. hehe. Actually, the no-diamond ring that I"m considering is the Russian Rolling Ring -- it is 3 rings made of yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, interlinked together. these 3 rings can roll over one another! Cartier has one too.. is classic! so it's either classic or bling! and considering it's 3 rings together, the total cost of the rolling ring is almost the same as that of a half eternity! >.<

I saw all the accounts of past brides with diamonds falling off rings but well, you all might be right that it is not a common thing to happen. hmmmm

Hmm ... do you girls have any opinion of getting a full "circle" or half "circle" of diamonds for your wedding band?

My solitaire ring was altered to right size. But months later, it just starts "rolling" to the side. -.-

Hence, by seeing it "rolling", I am considering of getting full "circle" diamonds. But then, my friends said that not necessary as it is always underneath.

Mine was altered too but it keep rolling, like yours. Haha. I think it's normal? given that the knuckle area and the inner finger area size differ? And we can't alter it perfectly because if it fits u well and not rolling around, you might have a hard time going through ur knuckle area! I think full eternity ring is tooo bling for me. I want mine to be attentive, but not TOO attentive. If you get what i mean ;)

This is mine from GH http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...0216041974136_660839135_8629678_1152548_n.jpg. HTB was just a really plain matte ring. He dont like diamonds or fancy (which in his opinion, its gayish. Haha)

Hi Rojak, it has been some time since our last correspondence yeah! Anyway, I love the "bling" that you mentioned and that is the only reason why women love diamonds!!! Well, I love diamonds personally and have a few collections myself. But I will only wear my proposal ring on my actual wedding day then I will keep it safely after my wedding because I am so afraid to lose it during bathing, visiting the washrooms or elsewhere during shopping...haha! Especially if your diamond ring is being dirtied or smeared (gua hua). That will definitely break your heart. I have this concerns in mind that is why I did not wear it during office hours as it is really hindering my work and colleagues will keep staring your "ring". Well, it really depends on you really. Hope this helps dear, thanks!!

thanks girls! it's so funny how 100% of the replies here are for DIAMONDS!! hahahah. even my htb is trying to convince me to get a diamond ring! :O

actually i thought of another way. I can get a no-diamond ring for wedding band, and a diamond studded ring for si dian jin. Since we will have a si dian jin isn't it? then i get the best of both!! haahaha. if you have a diamond studded wedding band, then what kind of ring do you choose for si dian jin? more diamonds? :D

My HTB asked me to get a diamond one too! He commented that the plain one is too simple when I mentioned that I dont mind changing to a plain ring (so as to cut cost)

Boils down to personal preference and a little bling win hurt if you are not into a lot of other costume jewelry daily !

i'm the exact opposite -- i wear t-shirt and jeans/shorts everyday with minimal jewelery! so i told my htb.. if we get a ring with bling bling, he might also need to spend even more to get me a wardrobe makeover!! hahahah
