i recently have been seeing my gfs bake for their bfs and that sort of got me started abit. you can buy baking items from bake it yourself, it's at newton there. they have classes too, can go and learn if you are not confident in doing it yourself at home. it's fun to bake with friends, and it's really not hard! especially if you use the piping tips and the swirls come out looking very nice. :) jiayou!

baking and cooking for my htb had become a norm to me. I always cook and bake for him. I bake him a christmas fruit cake, decorate it, and gave him on his birthday because his birthday is very near to Christmas.

Do read more baking books, see youtube, try at home, never worry of failure. I didnt go baking classes. I learn it at home all by myself. Well, i ate alot of burnt cakes during the learning process too :D

Yea, sometimes, being a woman (or rather a wife) is never easy. Imagine after marriage life... this man might get bored if :-

- everytime come home no food is ready
- everytime see wife sit there wait for him to drive him go out eat / tapau
- wan giv birth, but think of future kids all eat outside or mcdonald
- wan eat something, but lazy to go out

and etc etc etc....

So, i think it is important for a woman to pick up at least basic cooking and baking. You will be surprised that these skills does spice up your marriage life.

There was once, my mom told me "you have to give your man a reason to return home for you everyday after work"

Come to think again... FOOD is the reason~!!! :D

but i dunno where to start liao~~~

got any simple recipe or not ah?

then i can learn at home... hahaha~

It always depends on which way you wanna go 1st. You wanna learn simple home cooked food? as in... general home-cooked chinese dishes for dinner?

Or you wanna learn special dishes like... westernish style?

Or you wanna learn dishes from the oven? (grilled chicken, fish, tarts, cakes & etc stuffs)

Or you wanna learn desserts?

Too wide range le :D

actually cooking for bf is very good, it makes them feel very special and loved to have their laopo cook for them.. when i first cooked a small meal for my bf (pasta, very easy to make la haha) he was very happy. :) want to try to learn how to cook more but working, very hard to find time unless weekends we cook together..

yeah i agree that cooking very hard when working.. but i guess after marriage is different.. will definitely have to cook. no matter how cheap outside food is in singapore, also not as healthy as home cooked food. and you pointed out the crux of laopo-cooked food -- BLISS! :)

for those who don't know how to cook yet, it's never too late! My mum never knew how to cook until she got married. then she started learning, experimenting, and going for occasional classes (for the more complicated things like herbal soups, TCM). by the time i was in secondary school, my mum is a fantastic cook!!! it's restaurant-standard, and i'm not exaggerating! so it's really possible, as long as you want to do it :) thing about it -- if you learn 1 dish a week, that's 52 dishes a year already leh. more than most restaurant menus! hahahaha

Yea. working really takes a lot of my precious time ): Speaking of which, I havent cooked for my HTB for ages! He mentioned to me the other day that he misses my cooking in Aussie; when he came over to visit me while Im studying. But on the other hand, when I'm free to cook on weekends, he will ask me not to cook. Just go out, have a nice meal and relax. He's sooo contradicting!

working eat up alot of time. I always stock up some veggies in the fridge if i could. Or if want fresh ingredients, need to rush to NTUC / Cold storage and grab fresh meats & veggies before i head home.

Consider my htb a very fortunate one. I always try to cook dinner for him whenver i can. Even tho it is just a simple bowl of noodle soup (not maggie mee okays?) for dinner.

Sometimes, whenver i passed by hawker centre for breakfast, i will spend 5 to 10mins at wet market just to grab some fresh veggies before i head to work. Well, i must be prepared that i need to bring the veggies to work and keep it in the office-pantry fridge lah.

With this, i dont need to rush to NTUC after work. I can head straight home to cook. By 6.45pm, my htb reach home... dinner is ready on the table.

Sighh~!!! If he dont marry me ah.. he is really a dumb (my girlfriend say one)

Wahahahahahahahas...

Till now, im still learning. I always wanted to surprise him with new dishes. He always wanted to go home early after work for food. Sometimes... yeah, we (woman) might be tired after whole day of hectic work. But sometimes, a little bit of sacrifices makes our marriage life different :)
