Jelly,

South africa is in fact VERY affordable and it's really nice. I went to cape town.. don't go on those tour hype things if you are willing to do a lil work.

Cape Town on SQ has been about 1.3k for a long time.

You can easily spend another 10 days there on 2.5k budget including accom and food. When i went a couple years back it was almost the same cost as living in Singapore. food could be had at below 10, we cooked some meals ourselves and local meats and produce are cheap.

Ok we didn't go on exotic 5 day safari, but we had 2 days of private tours that brought us to enough places. =)

Hi Hann,

is it easy to get around Free and Easy? coz it isnt exactly very safe in South Africa, so im kinda worried about doing F&E. the thing is i wanted to do a safari and i tried to find means of transportation from airport to the safari (im looking at kruger) and a coach ride from johannesburg to kruger one way cost almost 100bucks per pax
just two nights can easily set us back by 2-3k based on the kruger website.

with safari stay included, im not sure if an affordable south africa trip can be planned. how much did you spend in total (and how many days). did you just travel around the cape town area and hence save on domestic airfare between johannesburg and capetown? (the pkg im looking at flies between these two places due to the location of the safari). can you share with me more details of your trip if you can still remember them? :)
