Is your husband willing to provide you a supplementary card?

Hi ladies,

I just got married not too long ago after dating with my husband for 8 years. Before we got married, i requested for him to provide me with a supplementary card but he refused. Now that we are married, i requested again and he refused again. Both of us are working and have similar income. I wanted the card was because it will be more convenient as i do not have that particular credit card and it could consolidate points. But most importantly, i thought it is a gesture that would make me really happy. I thought it is a status kind of thing.

Not that i want to spend his money. Even if i do use the card, i will pay for whatever i have spent.

But he refuses and i was pretty sad. It makes me feel like he doesn't trust me with his money. We have a combined income where we contribute equally every month and of course, we save on our own too. Ever since we dated, all shopping i do are spent from my own pockets. I rarely ask him to buy for me (except for special occasions).

Am i the weird one? Do most wives not get a supplementary card?

personally, i don't really see the link of hubby sup a card for me and having a status kind of thing? :/

then again, why dont you just sign up your own card since you 2 have similar income? i feel more 'powerful' having my own card and paying for my own expenses rather then using my hubby's one. and since you say you will pay for whatever you spent... why go through the trouble?

That's what I thought so too since both of you have similar income.
Unless your husband have the capability to sign a CC and you don't. In that case, I think it is fine for your husband to lend you the card.
If your husband use CC quite often, then it would be quite inconvenience for him if you took it away.

Yeah my htb signed a supp card. But I didn't use it. Not necessary though I feel. I feel I can rely on my own card instead of using his

Hmmm. What's the reason he gave for not wanting to give you the card? I personally think it's fair that you want one. I understand what you are feeling. it's not that you really need it or want to spend his money, just don't understand why he'd refuse.

Yes, but I don't really see the need to use one. I'm not much a big fan of applying for more cards. Planning to be as thrift as I can get :)
