Dear BTBs

I would like to warn all BTBs out there looking for AD photographer about Jonathan Ho from Expressively Joho. I chanced upon that Jonathan has recently setup another studio called Antelope Studios.

Please be warned that although the name of the studio may be different, the person/ master photographer Jonathan Ho is still the same. To give a summary, Jonathan (Joho) had shown unprofessionalism when handling our wedding by giving attitude and black face on our AD. He left after our 2nd march-in without discussing with us in advance when we sent him our schedule 3days before. On top of that, he charged us an extra $900.The delivery of photos took 6 months after our AD, during which he was unresponsive to our calls and SMSes. And finally the photos... they still give me a heartache whenever I look at them....

Please judge for yourself and think twice. It is important to choose someone you can trust and work with and be a happy bride on your big day. Good luck :)

The link in my previous post was removed so here's my full review of Jonathan Ho:

I would like to share my unpleasant experience with Jonathan Ho from Expressively Joho. It was a regrettably a bad one, served with unprofessionalism and dishonesty from none other but the Master Photographer, Jonathan Ho himself.

Delivery of final product: AD DVD to be ready before 11 Aug 2014.
My AD was on 11 May 2014. However we only got the DVD (mailed to us) on 27 Oct 2014. Yes almost half a year after my wedding. He was totally unresponsive to our calls and SMSes when we asked him for our photos.
The Package: Expressively Joho package (10th year anniversary promo) AD - Bliss (Singapore) - $2380.00 (2800-15%)
1. Up to 8 hours of on-location wedding photography
2. Available images will be basic edited (at least 30 per service hour)
3. Basic edited images returned on DVD in hi-res (2400x1800px)
4. Complimentary 1 hour engagement session
5. Complimentary 100 pcs credit card sized thank you cards
Total : $2380.00

The catch to Joho’s package:
1. 8 hours for AD (morning gatecrash, banquet dinner and same day solemnization) is definitely not enough. Before signing, we discussed with Joho and asked if 8 Hours is sufficient. Joho assured us that 8 hours is definitely enough. 3 days before our AD we discussed our AD schedule with him. The true shocker came just before our second march-in when Jonathan Ho turned to us and said: “I will leave after the 2nd march-in and speech. It’s about time hor. I’ll let you know the charges.” This caught us. How do you expect us to react? He could have discussed with us 3 days earlier or we could have topped up right from the start during the promo. Joho charged us additional 2 hours at undiscounted rate of ($450/hr), totaled $900. Lucky we had a photographer friend helping us with table shots. Otherwise we would be left with either uncompleted wedding photos or exorbitant charges.
2. The 100pcs of thank you cards from the engagement session - We never see the photos until 6 months after our wedding, which was too late to print and send out as thank you cards. Thankfully he agreed to give us the soft copy in lieu of printed cards.

The photos: I was totally devastated. These were far from the portfolios Joho showed us/ on his website. We got about 600 photos in return of which only half were nice/ professional
1. There was only 1 photo (yes just 1) of the Gown unprofessionally taken (I wonder if there was even editing done). You can judge for yourself
2. Our rings - When we pass Joho the engagement ring together with wedding bands in the evening, Joho rejected our request to take a picture of the 3 rings. He said he took liao (which was not possible as the rings were never together). Ended up there is only 1 picture (yes one and only) of the wedding bands only (without the engagement ring)
3. No pictures of the solemnization venue and setup. Yes, we spend $ to rent the venue and deco and there was absolutely no picture of the whole venue setup. As for the deco only 1 pic of the bride & groom signs on the chairs were taken.
4. Only 2 pictures of the banquet deco. Yes you heard me right. One wishing tree and 1 ang bao box (with the same bride & groom sign for solemnization). We have a lot more details and deco. How painful it is when all the decorations that were carefully chosen by the bride to accentuate the venue to the theme were not taken.
5. Above all, the wrong moments. The most touching veil moments with wrong angle/ expression. Touching moment of bride hugging brother turned out with bride awkwardly stretching arms towards the brother. Closed eyes, awkward smiles and all you name it top 10 awkward moments you won’t want to see in your wedding album.

• Joho’s attitude: we had to manage his black face throughout the wedding. Joho openly expressed unhappiness when VG blocked him, when family members passed him personal camera/ phone to take pictures, etc. After all it is the couple’s big day, least you want to see is your PG giving you black face. And did I mention, I couldn’t find my PG Joho most of the time during the night banquet.

Conclusion: For the price/ premium (total $3280) we paid to Expressively Joho, we could have more options and maybe with a more pleasant experience. Perhaps we were unlucky or our expectation of Joho was too high to begin with since he is the master photographer/ founder of Expressively Joho and part of the WPN (Wedding Photographer Network).

If you really like his works, I urge you to discuss in details (in writing) with him upfront. It still gives me heartache now whenever I think of my AD photos. You can retake Pre-wedding pictures, but not AD moments.
Do think twice and do your research thoroughly.

Good luck ☺

i had my AD photography with Kwang Liang & Adrian under Bryan Jean (which integrate with Antelope now).
Their PG package is 9hours. When I highlight to them it may not be sufficient as I'm having morning, solemnization and dinner on same day, he reply it should be suffificient and if exceed slightly like less than an hour, he wont charge. However, I still try to find out the hourly charge and inform him to complete the round table (a must).
in the day, we also do our part to tell our parent to get the tea ceremony over fast, my PG VG cost is running every min. my mum understand and get our relative moving.
in the evening, we schedule the solemnization and dinner 1hour apart only. usually couple will ROM at 6pm, i did mine at 630pm. that save me 1/2hr. and right after 2nd match in, we start our table shot. end of table shot, they inform us we had exceed 1hr and if we want to continue for sending guest off, which we extend for an hour. in total we top 2hrs. i'm also paid for surcharge, as i start my day at 5am. this is why we had tight time management.

To be fair, if you know 8hrs is not enough, you should have top it up to 10hrs or so. and expected the additional hourly charge. otherwise, engage one with more hours or unlimited hours.
I do have to agree the gown photo is quite a disappointment.

I have been quite disturbed by Bryan Foong Wai Kit, owner of Antelope Studios Pte Ltd. Bryan Foong has been harassing me since my review (in Dec 2014) of Jonathan Ho/ expressively jOhO services. And recently Jonathan Ho has also joined hands…

This dated back to 23 Jan 2015. I received an abrupt call from Bryan Foong Wai Kit of Antelope Studios. Bryan Foong got my number Joho and of course Jonathan Ho did not give me any heads up nor asked for my permission.

Bryan Foong told me that Jonathan Ho is not the owner of Antelope Studios, and Joho is just an employee of Antelope Studios. Bryan then requested me to clarify in the forum, on top of which he repeatedly asked me to make a Public apology to Antelope Studios! What?!! Shouldn't Jonathan Ho call me first? How can he simply pass my contact details to Bryan Foong/ Antelope Studios? Can’t Antelope Studios or Bryan Foong or Jonathan Ho/ expressively jOhO clarify in the forum? Why must Bryan call me up and ask me to apologize???

Well guess what, a year later, on 5 Feb 2016 1.50am (it was a Friday and just 2 days before CNY!), I woke up to a SMS from Bryan Foong of Antelope Studios. This time Bryan Foong/ Antelope Studios threatened to sue me over the forum posts (see the screenshots of the SMS below, number is blanked out as Bryan Foong/ Antelope Studios is not in my contact list). Again Bryan Foong wanted me to apologize and if I don't apologize and retract all posts he will sue me. Excerpts of the SMS “... I expect you to retract all posts and apologize for the misunderstanding caused to Antelope Studios.” “Should you decide to continue your malicious attacks on Antelope Studios, Antelope Studios Pte Ltd will definitely sue you for any damage against our brand.” I got a rude shock and couldn't sleep well after that… It was just 2 days before Chinese New Year…. And you know how busy it can get during CNY period… also happened that my dad was hospitalized during that time... ☹

Later in the day (Friday 5 Feb), I received missed calls during lunch and dinner hours and this time they were from Jonathan Ho (he surfaced after more than a year). Joho dropped me an SMS saying he wanted to apologize and discuss a few things including Bryan’s threats from Antelope. Well, it has already been 21 months after my wedding and now then you want to apologize? Ok fine, so Joho might be really sorry right… but guess what… Just 3 days after day 15 of CNY, I received an email from the Wedding Scoop, saying that Jonathan Ho the owner of Expressively Joho has requested them to take down my review on the grounds that it is mostly untrue. What? Untrue??? It is a fact that I paid a premium for this type of service & also now this type of after-service, it is true that the picture of my gown was so amateurish (you can see for yourself), it is true that he REJECTED my request to take a picture of my 3 rings and it is true that a lot of important moments were poorly captured by this award winning photographer Jonathan Ho (jOhO)…

Yup… So what if Jonathan Ho is the employee of Antelope Studios? Why can’t Bryan Foong clarify that himself in the forums. Why must they go such extend and drama over this threaten me ESPECIALLY just before CNY?? So what if Jonathan Ho apologized? Can my wedding AD moments be recaptured all over again?

Anyway this was what I came across on expressively jOhO facebook page back in 2014 when I wrote the feedback. Note: This was publicly released by expressively jOhO, Bryan Jean Photography and Antelope Studios, and signed off by Antelope Studios themselves in 2014 and NOT by me (see also the screenshots from their FB pages):

“Singapore - 31st Dec 2014. Bryan Jean Photography & expressively jOhO are coming together to announce the launch of a new flagship operator Antelope Studios Pte Ltd”.

Probably they will try to remove the FB posts after this. Whatever it is, please judge for yourselves. And Bryan Foong, Bryan Jean, Jonathan Ho, Joho, Expressively Joho, Antelope studios and whatever you call yourselves, you can clarify for all you want here and leave me alone! Stop punishing and reminding me of the worst and expensive mistake we had made for AD photography… And stop harassing me especially just before CNY every year! ☹

Gosh I'm shocked that vendors can actually request websites or forums to take down reviews?! Hope everything is good for you now. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for sharing. It's really sad to receive such experience on your most important day of your life. Once it's gone, it's gone. Yet there are few photos for you to reminisce the good times
