my friend did it in batam, she had to go back and forth singapore and batam to prepare for it. It's quite hectic and adds to the stress, so unless you are working there or something, try not to. Also you will have to ferry your guests there and some may have a stigma against indonesia being unsafe, so unless you can convince them to go over it's not recommended.

yes, usually the couple will sponsor the travel expense. especially for family and friends. That's why if it is in a far location, quite monetarily tough. Even if the couple is from two countries, usually they have 2 weddings instead.

My friend had an overseas wedding before. They were a more private couple, so their ceremony was witnessed by their immediate family only. After that then they came back to singapore for the customary.

There are company to help for planning such wedding.
hmm, had you heard of Watabe? The company who took over CHIJMES wedding.
They are one of the company who help client organise oversea wedding.
However it is very pricey. A relative of mine hold a wedding in CHIJMES around 3~4 years back for around $70nett per pax for lunch. I saw from another thread that a table in CHIJMES cost $1400+ with their new event company.
However you might want to check with them if they had packages for location you like.
Another one in thailand is this site: http://takeustothailand.com
It does look good but it is not cheap to get all your love one there plus their accommodation.
