What window shades will you choose for your home?

There are many types of shades for windows, which type will you choose when it comes to cost effective and hassle free?

I have been to HDB HQ showroom, they are using roller blinds and I believe curtains are now "old-fashion"?

But nowadays, these type of curtains are super cheap with several design.

Which is better? hmm ... :glare:

Hey! I think it is up to personal preference mainly? I would go for curtains (day + night) because curtains make the place look cosy and comfy which is what i like.

I think there are cheaper ones outside if you look aruond and hassle wise, should be relatively simple? Just dryclean once in a while?

i still prefer curtains esp those that comes with another layer of thin white curtain so that can just cover that during the day so not so bright ba! then if wanna slp can just pull the darker one across to darken the room

curtains for me! blinds has a less "homely" feel unless the look you are going for is more of the modern/ industrial look? i think the curtains are easier to install during the renovation coz you can just buy the rods from ikea and get them to come install. if blinds, depending on the window size, you probably need to get the upholster to come get it done and again that's ka-ching ka-ching to add to the reno budget...

Curtains are better, especially if they're 2-fold (day+night). more flexible. the blinds are more suitable for the new and classy feel if that's what you want your home style to be, but take note that they are VERY HARD to clean and maintain!! not only do they get stuck after some time, some types get mouldy very easily, especially in this humid weather of singapore. so beware! you don't want spores flying all around your home.

hi rojak, what's 2-fold curtains? :) is it like 2 layers with one lighter in color and in material while the other layer is darker and of a heavier material?

I use curtains in our windows because they are easily to clean and maintain. I just use blinds in my home office.
