BTBs to take note,cheap isnt always good too, u gotta weigh everything urself and also on ur expectations ~
To be honest, before I had signed up with Jed & Zhiwei, was doing my homework, sourcing and reading up and I had found a PG & VG service @ just $1500 only, WAS quite an attractive package..and though his works seemed fairly average, not something u will yuck or either something that would make u go wow too, so if you are someone who is more "chin cai" person, u will be fine with it.
Im not a really extreme picky person on general, but the reason why I chose a more expensive package (trust me, both Jed & Zhiwei's rates arent that "cheap" either, and on the fact Zhi Wei is rather rigid on his price and unlikely Jed can get u any discount, he would still refer u to him, as what I had did), was because of the communication, communication in my POV is very important, the other factors (age/exp etc just secondary priorities) the boss of the cheaper studio portrayed himself as someone very sloppy,forgetful,not detailed? Not sure if it was somethin to do with age, as I had went to their website, and all of their staff there was of a certain age (not being discrimative here) but emails/smses to him were either not promptly replied (2 -3 days, sms at 1am even! ) and still must send him reminder somemore on your queries? Already some cookie points gone liao lah..
Last straw was..decided not to sms/email, just asked him to give me a call straight to discuss when he is available,he called me on my mobile in the morning, spoke with a very strong hokkien accent, cannot speak proper english, so we conversed in mandarin and we discussed the package details, and I told him ok would discuss with SO etc and get back to him, so after discussing with my SO, we were both on a 50-50, thus we decided to meet him up at his office to view more of his works first before we make any hasty confirmation, when I called him on his mobile at night, he actually forgotten he had spoken to me and had asked who am I, only remembered after I told him about the emails/smses? Yes it may be him having too many things on his mind and that he had let it slipped off his mind, but just a call less den 12 hours and he forgot?? really??
To me, as a professional (he mentioned he was in e trade for over 20 years), every possible potential lead may eventually be a deal, if you, someone whom is selling your services, cant even make an effort to rmbr to reply ur emails/smses or even just a lead whom u had spoken to, how can I entrust my big day matter onto your hands? What if on my big day u suddenly MIA? I call and u dont answer? Or worst, deposit paid but everything of e above happens?
The last thing on every bride's mind, esp on their big day, is to save having any worries, so, thats the reason why u engage vendors to do the work for u with a price, if I cannot even communicate basic things with you, how am I going to know if I could entrust my big day, esp since ure e PG & VG, my lifetime memories are in ur hands!
So far, Zhi wei & Jed has been giving me the communication that I need and want, and thou both are fairly and relatively young and new, as compared with the major companies, but im willing to give a try and hope they would make my day a blast, would post up reviews after my big day in May 2013, not going to flatter them too much now, cos its still too early to judge and do not want to give a wrong judgment either.
So morale of the story - CHEAP ISNT ALWAYS GOOD =p
