Any comments on Mandarin Orchard Singapore (formerly known as Meritus Mandarin Singapore)?

Mandarin Orchard - Poor service, food quality and many other issues!
I just had my wedding banquet at Mandarin Orchard. What a big disappointment.
1. Food quality was not even close to 5*. This is over and above having given comments at the food tasting.
2. The understaffed the dinner. There were 800pax.
3. They did not return the balance wedding favours, wines and chocolates.
4. The room they provided was pathetic.
5. I brought my own spirits and the hotel provided wine and beer. They are trained to serve out what they provide and finish it first so that they can charge you more. I had so many spirits left and the guests were told there was no more spirits. They promised 80 bottles of wine but within 1 hour all the bottles of wine and beer were finished. They will ask you to order more wine and beer.
The problem is you will be very busy and wont be able to check empty bottles. Even if you did, you wont know if those were bottles that were already empty.
The way they handle things make you think that they are just after your money and will cut whatever they can to drive more profit. Utter disappointment.
Do not having weddings or events at Mandarin Orchard!!!! It does not have a proper lobby, 2 confusing wings.

I just had my wedding there.. Hope you did not book mandarin orchard. The worse experience ever. Bad food, poor service...
They will treat you well till you confirm and on the event day all sorts of things will change.

Really hope you have not confirmed Mandarin Orchard. I just had my wedding there and what a disappointment. I had 800pax, spent a hefty sum of money but the quality of food on that day was very disappointing. Felt cheated with the way they did things....

I do not think Mandarin Orchard was very good too.
I had placed a tentative booking with them previously when they confirmed that the date I was looking at, was available. When I called back to confirm that I want the place within the given timeframe, the manager picked up and suddenly said she all along liaising with another couple le (but I think she did not put in tentative booking for them, if not, the staff who helped me placed tentative booking, would have seen it earlier) and even immediately called them and asked them if they want. The couple immediately jumped at it and tats it... the manager just asked me go for lunch, etc. I want their management to give me full details on what exactly happened but also no news from them. If you dun wan such things to happen for your wedding, better be careful or at least avoid that manager, name starting with Tr.

I agreed with you that I will avoid Mandarin Orchard as well. They messed up my tentative booking with them and now caused me great issues to find another venue for my wedding dinner. I wanted the manager to get the management to reply on what exactly happened but they did not get back to me after that. What kind of service is this and they call themselves 5 stars... Hmmm, yes... Maybe bottom 5.

i've attended wedding lunch there only. Food is not bad, cantonese cuisine by Mandarin Court. Pleasant experience.
May I ask which ballroom? How their service?
