Is it ok not to have Gatecrashing?

we are not having gate crashing as well. Tea ceremony to parents only as well - not even on the AD. I feel most importantly is the bride and groom. Doing something you don't like out of tradition or hear-say may not be suitable for everyone. Bottom line, is the BIG day for the bride & groom and they should have it however they want.

I actually did research on the history of gate crashing, guo da li, si dian jin and etc. Most ppl that I know who did all that have no clue what's the reason behind it. Perhaps I am too practical.

Personally I think its fun! I'm only doing that and tea ceremony though, none of the other stuff like the guo da li... So its really up to the individual; depends on what kind of wedding you want, and what you want to include in it?

i think it's alright. we didn't have a gatecrashing on our wedding too because it was a mutual decision not to do so. :)

Sure why not? My friend did her makeup at home, then went directly to church. Her fiance waited for her at church.

it's alright. it's not really compulsory to have a gate crash during your wedding. but it would be fun to have one too. :)

could any brides who skipped the gatecrash advise me? Personally I'm not interested in gatecrash as i don't believe in it, but my sisters feel that it could be kinda odd (quiet) if my groom was to just knock on the door and come in to pick me up. Now I'm unsure. How did you guys plan yours if you skipped gatecrash?
secondly, I could be having about 4-5 sisters but my groom might only have 2-3 brothers, will that be odd?

we basically skipped gatecrashing since my husband and i agreed on not doing it anymore. we just did the usual thing wherein he just picked me up. it was not really that odd actually.

same concern too! im skipping the gatecrash part 'cause my HTB and I don't really fancy it.. and im no going to have sisters or brothers on my bf side.. at most only 1 or 2 bridesmaids or 'helpers'? then if that's the case, how's the flow on that day gonna be like?
my bf come my place, knock on the door and off i go with him? afraid the atmosphere very weird :(
