if you can, try to book 2yrs or 1.5yrs in advance if your wedding is on a weekend or on a auspicious date. u gain by booking early cos u will be paying for this year rate as prices increases every year or half yearly.

Yeah agree with PrincessCrystal...if you and your partner can quickly select and decide, at least can settle this big item earlier. Give you peace of mind. The price always goes up every year so if you book now, it will be at this year's rate. If not, you will be paying by the revised rate. Some years in the Chinese zodiac also very auspicious for getting married, like this year...heard hotels and restaurants are all booked up, even on weekdays! so would be good to confirm early if you can.

Is one year the norm? Thanks.

Hi, I do agree 1 year is a good timing for booking the right venue but preparation needs to start as early once you have confirm your wedding venue. Ultimately no one wants to rush till the very late minute to get the things done. I am having this big issue as I have no one to tell me about the duration and how to go about doing the things at the right duration, now I am really in trouble...haha! Enjoy dear!

Hey,
I think 1 year is normal, many venues get booked as early as 1 to 2 years prior to the event. Good luck

I used to think booking 1yr earlier is the norm until recently when I enquired on the dates I wanted, which is 1.5yrs more, alot of hotels are already booked or tentatively booked.

Better to start checking out venues & packages earlier.

aiyoo...faster faster book as soon as you can decide is good lor! otherwise the price will juz keep going up & up! oso if ur date is the hot hot date, better to secure your ideal venue faster faster!

Oh one more thing to share besides the rising prices each year, even if you have confirmed and paid deposit to your hotel, it is still good to take note of their next roadshows or promotions. There may be instances they add other perks which may not have been offered at your time of confirmation which you may want to negotiate into your package :)

I just enquired with the hotel of my choice for their wedding packages for 2013.. However her reply was:
"Thank you for your interest in our hotel!

However, do note that we do not have the 2013 October wedding package available yet.
It will only be ready the first quarter of 2012.

Let me know should you require more assistance!"

How do I try to book or reserve the date I want in this case?

Just book our banquet for xmas 2013 but there is a rise in price by quite a lot. Is it to nego downward or better perk if we found the deal is much better in the following hotel show or roadshow?

Hi, I recently enquired one hotel on early 2014 prices,
They replied me that they have not release the prices yet and it will onli be release in sept.

However they allow pre-booking but wif additional $100 to each tables.

So if on budget, i guess, we just have to wait and risk.. :(

early 2014...agar agar the pricing may be out in a few months time...why not shortlist a few locations (not too many though if not another set of problems aka spoilt for choices)..arrange for site visits to see the place for yourself 'cause not all may have the accurate floor plan, can also treat it as mock attendance and see how guests may feel about the travelling e.g whether accessible by transport etc...and compare the perks offered before penning the signature on the doted line..cheers

Me too! I enquired a few hotels and their replies were similar, but based on their replies, I think you can short list those whose attitudes are better. That's how I short list mine. :)

Btw, which hotel did you enquire that told you it will be out in Sept? I enquired intercontinental and the person's reply is only "We are currently not opened for bookings in 2014.".
