personally feel dbss is overpriced, high cost HDB

i rather choose EC over DBSS cos at least EC after 5 yrs will privatized.

for most Singaporeans, BTO flat is still the #1 choice of first home.
this is because of the fact that it has a lower price tag as compared to other choices on the open market, and also there are subsidized pricing and various grants offered.

I agree BTO is the number one choice.
But that is if you can get a good queue number.
Some are lucky, others fail to get queue numbers for years.
I have seen the price of BTO shoot up so much that I wonder why.
4 years ago a Punggol 5 room flat cost only $200k+ now a 5 room cost $500k+ and rising.
A resale flat in Punggol cost around $600k+.

Strangely a EC only cost $770k+ for a 3 bed room with swimming pool and many other facilities.

yah i do agree with you. getting a good queue number is really tough. i have a friend, and she hasn't gotten a good queue number for 2 years now.

For me i would choose the EC. But i would think of it as a property investment rather than my 'home'. That's what i did. My home is the one I would get after like 5 years. Now guessing it's your first property, you want to get as high as you can on the property ladder without over leveraging yourself. Think ahead..as in how much you can flip the property for in a couple of years and from there..get higher on the property ladder. As such your dream home would be the final rung. Just my opinion.

If you have the choice, EC. If not, the next choice will have to boil down to whether you prefer to have all fittings installed for u.

Each has its own advantages and disadvantages

BTO: Cheap (comparatively) but need to wait for years
DBSS: Expensive but saves on renovation costs since it comes with fittings
EC: Condo facilities but comes at a price

We bought a DBSS as it is a mature estate and location is good. Don't have to fork out cash for reno also as can pay through CPF. Didn't want to wait for BTO either. :)
