Yes.
The 2 main groups of jewellery chains are:

Soo Kee Group - Soo Kee, Love n Co, SK
Aspial - Lee Hwa, Citigems, Goldheart, Aspial

The other chain players would include Larry's, Taka, Poh Heng, Tian Po

i got a cartier...it is gorgeous...the classic setting and triple excellent cut is truly a class of its own. went around checking out the cutting and settings at 5 places before deciding on cartier.

Cartier prices:
0.4Carat, E, VVS1, $6.9k
0.48Carat, D, VVS2, $9.6k
0.52Carat, H, VS1, $8k
0.54Carat, H, VVS2, $8.75k
prices are nett including platinum ring...mine's the last one.

we compared D and H color at cartier, can't see difference. that's the standard set by the Gemological Institute of America, which cartier uses. The shop assistant even removed the tag and tested us on several diamond colors and we couldn't pass the test...keke. Elsewhere we could see slight yellow in G color diamond when contrasted against color of white gold...maybe because of in-house standards?

Love and Co diamonds are good...but setting didn't impress...

at Love and Co, I was quoted $5.5k for 0.51Carat, E, VS1...and offered $1k+ for a platinum ring setting...so in the end cartier price isn't too high for what they offer

I find carat and cutting most important...clarity don't bother as long as is better than VS2...color depends on standard used to grade the diamond

Can check out Charlotte for a different kind of diamond cutting...all shops we visited used 57 facet cut but charlotte uses 127 facet cut, which causes the diamond to sparkle O_O...but we didn't buy cos we wanted sth more traditional

@Mi Mi, we did check out Tiffany but they don't seem specialised on diamonds...more like silver makers...if your fiance can afford Tiffany you should go cartier look see look see...they're not pushy at all.

ocling, if you looking for bvlgari, go HK to get if you can.. it's much cheaper about $3-4k for 2 rings. the basic bvlgari one.

we got ours from celestial cos hubby wants a diamond on his band. proposal, he got from lee hwa - 0.52, D color, VS1, cant rem the cut..
personally i feel, for solitaires, size and cut matters more than anything. color and clarity is something we can't see with naked eye..

my engagement ring was done at jannpaul. great service!

I'd probably be getting it from JannPaul as well, no hard-selling, great service, and they know what they're offering.
Sales staff from other brands that I've encounter are more like point of sales, can't provide additional information needed for decision-making.

Tiffany and co wedding bands are quite worth it as they are all made in platinum. The colour last better than white gold as most white gold are 18k. Colour tend to fade after a few years. Think their wedding bands cost about 1.5- 3k depending on the diamonds they have on the band.

Would strongly recommend Felice Jewellery at Toa Payoh. They are located in industrial estate and have good variety. I went to alter ring size and am able to collect within 1hr. They rely mainly on word of mouth recommendations. No advertising hence they can pass savings to customers.

My fren got a 0.7 carat for around $6k and they also chose their wedding bands there.

You can use this website www.vivodiamonds.com to have a gauge of price based on carat, clarity and colour of diamonds.

Hope this helps

Been shopping around, got recommendations from friends and other forumers, any one has gotten their engagement rings from JannPaul?

And would there be any advice on clarity of VVS1 and VS2 to a naked eye?
I can tell differences on colors, but am not too sure bout clarity..

I can tell differences on colors, but am not too sure bout clarity..

VS1 and VS2 would be a good range, I wouldn't look at SI or below..
I've compared VVS1 and VS2, no differences for me though.. couldn't spot any inclusions with the naked eye

I've visited JannPaul and have had a look on their diamonds, the session with them was very insightful
They gave me a very clear understanding on how the cut grade of a diamond would determine how sparkly the diamond would be..
Furthermore, they also explained bout hca score and the limitations it has and that the best way to check a diamond's cut grade would still be thru different scopes which are the ideal/aset/h&a..
Personally, I love their super ideal and solasfera range, I'd recommend you to have an appointment with them to find out more..
